Here is a photo of how I handled the join in the track at the rear section edge. This should handle the wear and tear OK. In areas where the track will be seen I will handle this a little more discretely but the idea is to build it strong since this layout is being built to travel.

I have built the point out the back now and there is nothing particularly startling about it. Since I am not motorising my points, at least for now, I wanted an easy method to throw the points and switch the frog polarity. I liked the positive springing action of a small toggle switch so came up with the system seen below. It ain't pretty but since it will be hidden it will do the job quite nicely.

I found that the PCB sleepers didn't raise the rail quite as high as the rail on the ME code 70 track so I shimmed the PCB sleepers up with some manila folder card. As you can see I have crammed a couple of turnouts together in one spot to get the loop in without reducing my minimum radius.
