Here I will present my rolling stock. So far the rolling stock has been assembled or kitbashed from kits.
First up is this 20' boxcar which was assembled more or less as standard from the wonderful Boulder Valley Models (BVM) kit.
The only departure from stock was some minor underfloor modifications to allow the car to negotiate my 250mm curves.
Also this car was equipped with North Yard 10.5mm six spoke wheels in BVM trucks for a bit of extra character.
In true New Zealand style this is classified V.
I have just completed this BVM Steel boxcar. Again a more or less stock build from another excellent kit.
I recently decided to try out Kadee HO #501 archbar trucks and this is one of the first cars to receive these trucks.
I have swapped the stock wheels for North Yard 12mm spoked wheels but I am going to change them to their 10.5mm spoked wheels.
The steel boxcar is classified Vs.

They were built from Alan Curtis Models kits.
Again wheelsets are from North Yard, this time 12mm six split spoke design.
These gons are built from a pair of BVM shorty ore cars butted together to make a 14' gon.
These are classified R.
Some time ago the G&KP bought these three side dump cars which have run very nicely.
These cars are of course from Bachmann and a light weathering is all that has been done to them. They are the Ys class.
Another new car to the G&KP is this steel hopper. Again built from a BVM kit the G&KP mangement decided to aquire a sample of this product for evaluation.
The increased carrying capacity of this car and easier unloading make this car considerably more cost effective and it is likely that more will enter service in time.
This car has also received the Kadee trucks and North Yard 10.5mm spoked wheels. This is a Yh class car.
Also built from two BVM shorty cars is this flat car.
This is classified U1.
These 14' cars are right at home on the G&KP's tight curves though some modifications were needed to allow trucks to swing and to drop the cars down.
Though these modifications were not difficult I will probably use the BVM 16' cars for both the gons and flats in future to give the impression of a growing fleet and changes to the designs.
The G&KP now also runs one 18'
flatcar. This is built from the laser cut On30 IMA Scratch-Kit.
This one rides on 10.5mm spoked wheels to give a lower deck height and is classified U2.
